Website and discoverability review

Salemtowne: what a family in Forsyth County finds before they ever call you

A structured read of salemtowne.org against six measures, built from your own public pages and Semrush search data. Every point below is something you can check on your own site in under a minute.

69/100

A content-rich, unusually trustworthy site that search engines are only half reading

Six weighted measures, 100 points total. Lower is not carelessness here: most of what is missing is structural.

Salemtowne publishes more genuinely useful material than almost any community we review. Twenty-five real questions and answers. A full 309-page disclosure statement in the open. Ten named residents on the record. The gap is that a great deal of it lives on a small number of very long pages, so Google can see the community but cannot see the services inside it.

The six subscores

Each measure is scored against what a Life Plan Community website needs to do for a family who is comparing you to two or three others this week.

MeasureWhere you standScore
Design and mobile
Custom theme, real professional photography, responsive at phone width, and a text-size control in the header that genuinely helps your audience.
Holding you back: the script headline typeface set over photographs at very large sizes, and page lengths that run past a 25 minute read.
16 / 20
Speed and technical health
HTTPS is clean and every page we requested returned a 200.
Holding you back: the events calendar plugin loads eight stylesheets on the homepage, the homepage repeats the same twelve gallery images three times in the markup, and your Living Options menu points at a URL that redirects.
10 / 15
Conversion path
Three separate phone lines by audience, a virtual visit option, the Towne Club, and a cost calculator. This is better than most.
Holding you back: every section ends at the same generic Contact Us, and one form behind a reCAPTCHA serves an independent living inquiry, a rehab referral and a careers question alike.
15 / 20
SEO basics
Yoast is installed, your Organization markup is present, and you rank for 419 keywords.
Holding you back: the homepage title tag is the single word Home, the About page title tag is About, and the About page carries the News page's meta description. Four distinct services share one URL.
12 / 20
Answer engine readiness
Google is already generating an AI Overview on 78 of your keywords and a People Also Ask box on 383 of them. The demand for answers is proven.
Holding you back: zero FAQ rich results, zero featured snippets and zero Things To Know across all 419 keywords, while your twenty-five real answers sit inside accordions that open on click.
7 / 15
Trust
The strongest we have scored in this segment. Your 2026 Disclosure Statement is public, your Article 64A filing is stated on page one, and your Board of Trustees is listed with affiliations, including two resident seats.
Holding you back: only that none of this is linked from the pages where a family is actually deciding.

What the search data says

Semrush, salemtowne.org, United States database, pulled 8 October 2026. The three figures in crimson are the ones worth a conversation.

419
Organic keywords
Only 31 of them sit in the top three positions. 122 sit on page two or three.
2,521
Organic visits a month
Estimated. For a single campus community in a market this size, that is a reasonable base to build on.
78
AI Overview keywords
Google is writing its own answer above the results on 78 of your searches.
383
People Also Ask keywords
Families are asking questions you have already answered on your About page.
0
FAQ rich results
Despite twenty-five published questions and answers across two pages.
0
Featured snippets
No answer of yours has been promoted to position zero.
204
Local pack keywords
You appear in the map pack on 204 searches. Strong local presence.
0
Paid keywords
Everything above is earned, not bought. That is worth saying out loud.

Also recorded: Semrush Rank 573,011. Knowledge panel 166 keywords. Video features 301. Sitelinks 230. Related searches 336. Reviews 88. Image pack 23. Positions 1 to 3: 31. Positions 4 to 10: 75. Positions 11 to 20: 69. Positions 21 to 30: 53. The FAQ, featured snippet and Things To Know counts each returned a value of zero, which is a measured zero rather than missing data.

Three findings, with the evidence

Each one is checkable on your own site. None of them is a criticism of the writing, which is good.

FINDING 01

Four services, one page, one title tag

Your Health Services menu lists Assisted living, Skilled nursing, Memory support and Rehabilitation as four separate items. All four point to the same URL with a different anchor on the end. The Masten Assisted Living Center, the Babcock Health Care Center, Westerly Place and your forty-room transitional rehabilitation center therefore share one page, one title tag reading Health Services, and one meta description. The same pattern repeats on independent living: the submenu sends apartments, cottages, villas, cost considerations, amenities and the Towne Club to a single page that reads for about twenty-six minutes.

How to check this in ten seconds Hover Health Services in your own menu and read the four URLs: /health-services#assisted-living, #skilled-nursing, #memory-support, #rehabilitation. Then look at the browser tab while you are on that page. It says Health Services. Meanwhile Semrush records 383 of your keywords returning a People Also Ask box and 204 returning a local pack, which is exactly the search behavior a per-service page is built to catch.
FINDING 02

Twenty-five real answers that no answer engine can quote

Between your About page and your rehabilitation section you have published twenty-five genuine questions with genuine answers, including what a Life Plan Community is, what the two contract types are under the North Carolina Department of Insurance definitions, what the monthly fee covers, whether pets are welcome and whether residents have a voice. This is the single most useful body of copy on the site. Every answer opens only when a visitor clicks it, and we found no FAQPage structured data on either page. Across all 419 ranking keywords Semrush records zero FAQ rich results, zero featured snippets and zero Things To Know, while 78 keywords already trigger an AI Overview that Google is writing without you.

How to check this in ten seconds Open salemtowne.org/about and scroll to Frequently Asked Questions. Every answer is collapsed. Now search Google for a phrase from one of those answers and see whose text appears in the AI Overview.
FINDING 03

Your best proof is published, and nothing links to it

Salemtowne publishes its 2026 Disclosure Statement openly, and page one states plainly that it has been filed with and recorded by the North Carolina Department of Insurance in accordance with Article 64A of Chapter 58 of the North Carolina General Statutes. Inside it is the eight ratio statutory table, three historical years and three forecast years. Very few communities put that in front of the public. Right now it is reachable only through a small Statements and Forms link in the footer, and the page that holds it serves an og:url on http rather than https. The ten named residents with photographs, the full Board of Trustees with affiliations, the two resident board seats and the LeadingAge membership are in the same position: real proof, parked away from the pages where a family decides.

How to check this in ten seconds From your homepage, count the clicks to the disclosure statement. Then look at your Health Services page and your Independent Living page and count how many times either one links to it. Compare that with how often a prospective resident's adult child asks about financial stability.

A 90 day sequence

Ordered so that each phase makes the next one cheaper. Nothing here requires rewriting your copy, because your copy is not the problem.

Days 1 to 30
Give each service its own front door
  1. Split Health Services into four pages. Masten Assisted Living Center, Babcock Health Care Center, Westerly Place memory support, and transitional rehabilitation. Each keeps the copy it already has.
  2. Split Independent Living into apartments, cottages and The Woodlands villas. You already have distinct photography and distinct floor plan names for each.
  3. Rewrite every title tag and meta description. Begin with the homepage, which reads Home, and the About page, which currently carries the News page's description.
  4. Point the Living Options submenu at real URLs and retire the redirect.
Days 31 to 60
Make the answers quotable
  1. Add FAQPage markup to all twenty-five existing questions and render the answers open on load, with the accordion as a convenience rather than a gate.
  2. Mark up the four new service pages and add LocalBusiness detail with your address and the three audience phone lines.
  3. Give each audience its own short form so a rehab referral, an independent living inquiry and a careers question stop arriving down one pipe.
  4. Link the disclosure statement from the pages that sell and move the Statements and Forms page to a canonical https reference.
Days 61 to 90
Measure it, then let it report itself
  1. Stand up inquiry tracking by level of care so you can see which of the four new pages produces a tour.
  2. Assemble the Article 64A quarterly pack automatically. The occupancy by living unit type and the eight ratio table are the same numbers every quarter, pulled from the same systems.
  3. Put the whole thing on your own server with a private AI layer, so resident and financial data never leaves Salemtowne.
  4. Review at day 90 against the 419 keyword baseline and the eight zeros on this page.

Two things we checked rather than assumed

Life Plan Community. We use that phrase about Salemtowne because Salemtowne uses it about itself, on the homepage, in the footer of every page, on the About page and on the Independent Living page.

Licensed North Carolina CCRC. The North Carolina Department of Insurance register of licensed continuing care retirement communities lists Winston-Salem, Salemtowne under Forsyth County. Your own 2026 Disclosure Statement states the Article 64A filing on page one, and identifies Moravian Home, Incorporated, doing business as Salemtowne, as the provider.

What we did not do. We did not run a performance test from inside your network, we did not see your analytics, and we did not touch any resident or financial system. Everything above comes from pages anyone can load and from Semrush.

Two things built for Salemtowne that you can open right now

We work in two directions at once: modernization of websites, and deep analytics. Both are rich in content rather than thin on it. So rather than describe them, we built both for your community.
